D. Gillian Turner was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Gillian attended the Fine Arts program at North Island College soon after she and her family relocated to the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island in 1994. Her art practise embraces both sculpture in clay and painting on canvas and wood panel. Participation in several workshops presented by Bruce Cochrane, Vince Pitelka, and Beth Cavener have encouraged her sculptural approach to ceramics. A sense of peace, permanence and connection to nature is reflected in her paintings. Gillian now lives in the town of Esquimalt, and may be found working in her Admiral Road studio, or spending time in the many beautiful local parks with her granddaughter.
